Instructor Arrival / Schedule:
• If you are not a Sleepy Hollow Elementary School (SHES) faculty or staff member, you must check in with the main office before proceeding to your assigned classroom or class location.
• Please compare your class list with the school’s absentee list. If a student is not on the school’s absentee list, and does not report to your Dolphin Academy class, please notify the Daily Administrator immediately.
• Please arrive and be ready for your class no later than ten (10) minutes before your class is scheduled to start.
• At the end of your class, please escort all of the students in your class to the school’s cafeteria to be dismissed and picked up. The Dolphin Academy (DA) Daily Administrator will be in the cafeteria to ensure that students are taken to the appropriate location for pick up. While we appreciate your cooperation with our dismissal procedures, you are not required to stay and wait for late parents/guardians.
• Please ensure that your classroom or class location is left in the condition you found it prior to the Dolphin Academy class.
Student Supervision and Safety:
• The supervision and safety of students is our #1 priority. Instructors are responsible for students from the time they arrive at the class until they are safely escorted into the care of the Daily Administrator in the school’s cafeteria after class has ended. At no time should any student be left unsupervised.
• If you must leave the classroom or class location temporarily for any reason and no other adult is present to supervise the students, please contact the Daily Administrator or contact or the SHES main office.
• If a student has to use the restroom during class time and there is no restroom in the classroom or class location, the student may be excused from class with a buddy to use the nearest facility.
• Dolphin Academy may have some middle and high school students volunteering to help with daily administration. While these students are there to assist and to learn how to be responsible, they are still students. They must follow all class rules, as well as school rules. They cannot be left in charge of the class at any time. If they act inappropriately in any way, please speak to them about the behavior, and also report it to the Daily Administrator.
Emergency Situations:
• If a student becomes ill during your class, call the SHES main office and/or the Daily Administrator immediately.
• Please report ANY incident of student injury immediately to the Daily Administrator and the SHES main office. Please provide all necessary details related to the injury, and let the parent/guardian know at pick-up about the incident.
• Please report any behavioral or other student issues/concerns to the Daily Administrator as soon as possible so that an appropriate action can be taken.
• Please report any hazardous conditions in your classroom or class location to the SHES main office immediately.
Instructor Absences:
• If you must cancel an afternoon class due to an emergency/illness, please contact the SHES main office and the Daily Administrator as soon as possible so that parents/guardians can be notified before the school day ends.
• If you must cancel a Monday morning class due to an emergency/illness, please contact the SHES main office and the Daily Administrator as soon as possible so that parents/guardians can be notified before the school day begins.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF A CLASS IS CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER OR OTHER UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, IT WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED. ALSO, THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP CLASSES.
